San Francisco Coffee Wars

San Francisco comedy performance art theater troupe Killing My Lobster has made some hilarious videos, often about uniquely Bay Area experiences, but they have truly outdone themselves with their meticulously crafted new video production, "The Coffee Wars".

Here in San Francisco, hipster-mocking is a full-time job. This morning the boy in my bed got dressed in a t-shirt that said "I Listen To Bands That Don't Exist Yet"; events like Balsa Man feature Burma Shave signs that read "Being Jaded Was So Much Better Last Year", and LookAtThisHipsterFucking, which mocks the hipster-mocking site LookAtThisFuckingHipster, has ads for SF queerporn site NoFauxxx and images of local alt-porn celeb Madison Young with the caption "This facial's vegan!".

In this environment of recursive snark, it's hard to rise above the general level of excoriating disdain. But KML has done it, and triumphantly, in this masterful depiction of The City's escalating war on inadequate coffee, with its battling gangs of coffee pedants who stalk the Mission looking for someone to one-up. The video is part of their recent production, Hold The Mayo, which skewers (sorry) Bay Area foodie culture.

Also check out the related hipster-tourism video about neighboring "Oak-Land"- sponsored by the The Bay Bridge Inn, where under certain circumstances, "You stay for FREEE!"
